If Sweden is on your study-abroad radar, you’re already making a smart choice. It’s clean, student-friendly, and offers top-notch universities. We’ve seen more and more Indian students choosing Sweden lately — and we’re not surprised!

Now, before you start dreaming about fika breaks and snow-covered streets, let’s talk about something important: the student visa fee.

So, how much does the Sweden student visa cost in 2025?

As of now, the visa application fee for Sweden is SEK 1,500 — that’s Swedish Krona. In Indian currency, it usually comes to around ₹11,000 to ₹13,000, depending on how the exchange rate behaves.

You’ll need to pay this amount online when you apply on the Swedish Migration Agency’s website. It’s a one-time payment and, just so you know — it’s non-refundable.

A quick heads-up:

  • Make sure you have an international debit or credit card to make the payment.

  • If you’re visiting VFS Global for biometrics or document submission, there might be extra service charges (usually a couple of thousand rupees).

What do you need for the visa?

Here’s a simplified list — the same one we use when guiding our students at Golden Future:

  • Valid passport

  • Admission letter from your Swedish university

  • Proof of funds (about SEK 10,314/month of stay)

  • Tuition payment receipt (if applicable)

  • Health insurance (if you’re staying under 12 months)

  • Your SOP (Statement of Purpose)

  • A couple of passport photos

That SOP? It matters a lot. Don’t underestimate it. We’ve seen great applications fail because the SOP didn’t tell a convincing story.

How long does it take Sweden Student Visa?

Most students get a decision in 2 to 3 months, but it can vary. Apply as soon as your admission letter arrives — no need to wait.

What could go wrong for Sweden Student Visa?

Honestly, the visa process isn’t hard — but some students do face rejections. The most common reasons include:

  • A copied or weak SOP

  • Unclear financial documents

  • Choosing a course that doesn’t match your academic history

  • Leaving out important paperwork

We had a student from Pune last year — her application was solid, but she forgot to attach proof of insurance. That one slip delayed everything. Small mistakes matter.

Final thoughts

Getting your Sweden student visa isn’t just about paying the fee — it’s about making sure everything else is strong too. That’s where we step in.
